Learn how to crack WEP and WPA passowrds

I bet you would love to learn how to crack the WEP or WPA password from your network.
Follow this simple guide. But you will need to prepare some tools before you can start cracking!
Let the games BEGIN!

Firstly, you will need a software known as BackTrack
BackTrack is a bootable Linux distribution that's full off network testing tools.
Head over to this link to get your own copy of BackTrack
 http://www.backtrack-linux.org/downloads/
As of this writing, you should select BackTrack 5 R3 from the Release drop-down, select Gnome, 32- or 64-bit depending on your CPU (if you don't know which you have, 32 is a safe bet), ISO for image, and then download the ISO.

I bet most of you would not have a physical DVD drive with your laptops nowadays, so you need not worry. What you need to do is to use a USB drive or any removable drive for that matter and have BackTrack boot from the USB drive.
To do this, you will need an external program to load Backtrack into the USB drive.
Head over to this link to learn how,
http://www.backtrack-linux.org/tutorials/usb-live-install/
Note: You need to use Unetbootin to load Backtrack into USB drive. Follow the instructions there.

After that you are all set!

We'll start with WEP cracking! This will be easier and quicker that WPA cracking.
First, you will need to know whether your wireless card in your computer or laptop is capable of packet injection.
To do this you need to boot into Backtrack. Note: you cannot run backtrack in Windows. You need to restart your system and boot from your USB drive that is loaded with backtrack.

After booting into backtrack, type startx in the command line to start up the user interface.

type
iwconfig

then you have to put your wireless card into monitor mode
type
airmon-ng start wlan0
assuming your wireless interface name is wlan0

Then you will have to check whether your modem supports packet injection or not. You can use this command line.
aireplay-ng -9 wlan0

When the system responds injection is OK. means your wireless card works!

After that, you will have to find out what wireless networks are available.
Type
airodump-ng mon0
running airodump-ng displays all wireless access points and associated clients in range, as well as MAC addresses, SSIDs, signal levels and other information about them.

Press Ctrl + C to stop the scanning

Then you can pick your victim and start the real cracking process!

Type
airodump-ng -c 6 --bssid 00:0F:CC:7D:5A:74 -w data mon0

the above command will capture packets of data from the specificed MAC address. These packets of data will be used to decipher the wifi password of the specified network.

airodump-ng -c 6 --bssid 00:0F:CC:7D:5A:74 -w data mon0
the number 6 is the specific channel for the wifi network
00:0F:CC:7D:5A:74 is the MAC address for the router AP
data is the name of the file that the packets of data is captured in.

Notes:
You typically need between 20,000 and 40,000 data packets to successfully recover a WEP key.

WEP cracking is a simple process, only requiring collection of enough data to then extract the key and connect to the network. You can crack the WEP key while capturing data. In fact, aircrack-ng will re-attempt cracking the key after every 5000 packets.

To attempt recovering the WEP key, open a new terminal window, type:

aircrack-ng data-01.cap  (assuming your capture file is called data...cap, and is located in the same directory)

Then you just need to wait for the system to crack and deliver you with the WEP key!

Presto!

For WPA cracking you can refer to lifehacker's website, they have a comprehensive guide on how to crack WPA passwords with a brute force attack.

Solve your PS3 problems with one simple solution

Slow PS3?
Takes very long for your PS3 system to start up?
Having problems with your save games and unable to load up your save games?

Most probably you have tried all the mentioned system recovery steps, and yet the problem still persist.
You have tried going into safe mode and repeatedly gone through all the options available in the safe mode recovery menu. And to your dismay... you are out of options and the so-called safe mode and recovery menu doesn't even help a bit.

Don't fret, because according to my experience, there's a very simple solution to it.
But before that, try and backup your save games if possible, sync your trophies with the PS3 server, remember your password and login ID.
Then, after you have done all that, all you need to do is just swap out your current PS3 HDD with an extra one that's lying around in your closet!
All your headaches will be gone and you are a happy gamer all over again.
All the problem thats causing your PS3 is most probably a faulty HDD or bad sectors in your PS3 HDD. By swapping it with a new one, your problems should be solved.
It helped me, so I suppose it should help you too!

How To Edit PNG files in Picasa Desktop Tool

The JPG image option is activated by default in Picasa. But PNG file format is not activated by default therefore to solve the problem, all you need to do is to enable the PNG file format in the options within Picasa. This will enable the PNG file format so that it can be editable in Picasa! Simple!

Firstly,

  1. On the menu bar, click on Tools –> Options.
  2. Click on the “File types” tab. You’ll see lots of file types and checkboxes next to them. Check the box next to .PNG option. Similarly if you want to edit .GIF images or any other image type then check the box next to it. Click OK.
  3. Now “Edit in Picasa” option is activated. Every time you open the image with Picasa, you’ll find the editing option enabled.

Get more Smartphone internal space!

I've been scratching my head on how to solve the insufficient space on My Galaxy Ace... for ages!
The phone came with only 178MB of internal space, which sadly is critically low by today's standard.
Even after rooting the phone and using the Apps2SD apps on the Play Store did not help at all.
Finally I stumbled across the Holy Grail solution to this dire problem. I hope this may help a lot of souls out there in winning their fight against this age old problem of insufficient space on every attempt to update or install new apps from the google play store!!

Steps to Accomplish this, you need to:
  1. Root your device.
  2. Install ClockWorkMod for your phone (CWM)
  3. Partition your SD card using CWM in boot recovery (Warning! Partitioning your SD card will wipe out what ever data you have previously in the card. So be sure to backup everything before you do this!)
  4. Then in the boot recovery, mount sdcard. After that, restart your phone.
  5. Install Link2SD app from Google Play (you can follow this link Link2SD to get the app)
  6. In the app Link2SD, go into settings then choose 'auto-link' function and set the default install location to ínternal. This method will force all apps installed on the phone to be linked in the new external partition that you created in your SD card earlier.
  7. You are done! Well, you can start batch linking your previous apps in your phone to free up all those space Finally!

Advantage?
Quoted from Link2SD website FAQ for your reading and understanding.

Link2SD

Link2SD moves apk + dex + lib files of the application to the second partition and creates symbolic links in the original locations on internal storage.
First advantage is that it can free up more space from the internal storage compared to native apps2sd method because it moves the dex file as well.

The second advantage of Link2Sd over native apps2sd is that by creating symlinks you get Android assume these apps are installed into the internal memory, though in fact all the files are located on the SD.
Therefore you can link all applicatios to SD card; widgets, services, live wallpapers etc., all of them will work without any problem from SD card.

The third advantage is that, even when you mount the SD card to your PC your linked apps are all still live and working!
Because Android unmounts the first FAT partition to share files with your computer but the second partition remains mounted. Link2SD allows you to run all of your "SD apps" even when mounted to your computer as a disk drive.

And, disadvantage is that, obviously, it requires root privilige and a second partition on your SD card.
It's not working "out-of-the-box" as native apps2sd, you need to root your device and create a second partition on your SD card yourself.
